Helen studied for an MChem at The University of Leeds, then went onto work at AstraZeneca, Alderley Park, Macclesfield, where she worked for 11 years in drug discovery on oncology and cardiovascular targets. After a career break, she then picked up her chemistry career as a Senior Scientist at Concept Life Sciences, Chapel-en-le-Frith, where she focussed on process development and custom synthesis projects. Helen then returned to AstraZeneca in 2019 in Chemical Development at Macclesfield, initially working on the development of batch processes but moved to the Continuous team in 2021. Since then Helen has worked on route design and process design projects aimed at using continuous processing to improve the sustainability and cost of drug substance manufacture at AstraZeneca.
